2020: War between species

- By Wordsmith

Corona, Covid, War

On one hand we have Virus – a microscopic organism, which does not even possess a fully functional cell within it, just an RNA or DNA strands enclosed in a protein capsid, and can’t even survive without getting connected to a living cell.

On the other hand we have Humans – the most complex of all, the most evolved species in this planet, with the most complex, amazing, extraordinary, organized system with millions and trillions of cells, numerous organs, variety of organ systems and with the beautiful process of “Growth” and “Apoptosis”1 to balance the whole system.

Currently in this war, the most incredible species is behaving like a prey with immense fear, anxiety, worry and stress. It is failing to use the most exotic brain in such times, failing to use raised Epinephrine and Norepinephrine2 for fight and flight; instead it’s  just sulking around, complaining, behaving recklessly, focussing more on deaths rather than the increased rate of recovery or changes in the virus itself, who is trying hard to adapt, as coming from entirely different and lower species compared to the superior humans, as we believe.

Surprisingly, we, the so called superiors in every aspect are facing a hard time with the organism, who doesn’t even possess a cell or eventually just a capsid of genetic material. We have stopped using our brains to understand the predator, it’s attacking techniques, it’s area of penetration into the foreign borders, what arms we require to give it a good blow,  further steps of action if somebody falls prey to it, measures to minimize the damage and protect and take control of the situation.

Are we really the most advanced and evolved species as we declare and believe? If yes where is the courage, intelligence, apt action and discipline? We have become just a bunch of fearful, incompetent individuals who don’t use the extraordinary brain they have been blessed with to handle such a situation with extreme caution, calm and intelligence. Instead we are just going haywire doing whatever is pleasing and irresponsible for humanity as a whole.

Virus is dividing to cause maximum damage not only to itself but to humans as well. It’s not a war between few Covid warriors and the virus. Every human is a born warrior. We all have to just unite to fight this dividing demon; everyone has to play a part to contribute to a better tomorrow and to let humanity thrive in peace.

1Apoptosis: Organized and controlled cell death process.

2Epinephrine and Norepinephrine : Adrenaline and Noradrenaline.

  3. The article outlines our inability to comprehend the dire situation we are in or is it willful arrogance? Either way the message it gives is very Clear and Crisp.

Informative as well as thoughtful .well articulated with the current situation. It’s not the virus but our own master (brain) became our enemy , shaking reality.

  5. It is basically upon us to contain the virus. Whether we panic and worsen the situation or remain calm and improve the situation is dependent on how we react.

    Well written to the point👏.

Behaviour change is the need of hour not the ‘ lockdown’

Humans can beat the virus by social distancing , hand hygiene and personal protective equipments.

With our country’s population and health infrastructure , we got to take strictly.

Congratulations to the author for such an apt article.

    Also catchy title.
