Dil Bechara Review (Disney Hotstar Plus)
Genre– Romantic Comedy
Positives
The energy of Sushant Singh Rajput’s character and his performance is awesome. The storyline is nice and keeps the audience glued. It lets you understand the psychology of people suffering from terminal diseases. Even the acting of the supporting cast- Saswata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee, the parents of heroine’s mother is impressive and the heroine, Sanjana Sanghi is very natural in her role. We can see that A.R. Rahman can still weave magic through his music.
Negatives
It is based on the English movie- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, hence those who have watched the original version may find the Indian version repetitive. The story becomes slower in the middle and at times you feel that the movie should move on.
Conclusion
Overall rating of 6.5/10
It is good to see the last performance of Sushant Singh Rajput and a must for his fans. It is a good watch for people with romantic bones.
Avrodh the Siege Within Review (Sony Liv)
Genre– Adventure, Drama
Positives
One of the fewest positives of this series is Amit Sadh’s portrayal of Major Videep Singh. He is sharp and a no non-sense army officer who leads his team from the front. The series does not only concentrate on the surgical strike but also captures details that happened between the URI terrorist attack and the surgical attack.
Negatives
There is an unnecessary drama spread across the series which makes you skip scenes or sequences multiple times. You can easily make out that the other characters are not up to the mark. It seems that the director has not learned from movies/ series which are based on military operations. Also, the fact that the film, Uri: The Surgical Strike had set such high standards that the series lose on many points due to the comparison running in the minds of the viewers.
Conclusion
Overall rating of 3/10
The series was not satisfactory at all. There is much better content available on the internet on this topic. Uri: The Surgical Strike and स्पेशल ऑपरेशन्स: इंडिया ‘सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक्स’ हिंदी एपिसोड (on youtube) offer better and crisp content. People can watch this as an alternative to this series. Please thank us for saving your time.
Shakuntala devi (Amazon Prime)
Genre: Biography, Family drama
Positives
The one thing which the movie clearly brings out is the achievement of Shakuntala Devi. It was interesting to know her personal life from the eyes of her daughter. The story line makes you mull over how to strike a balance between ambition and family life. The characters of the film do not get much opportunity to show their acting talent except for a few scenes of exchanges between the mother and the daughter.
Negatives
As a maths lover, I couldn’t figure out how she could do those calculations so quickly. The film lacked content and various scenarios felt repetitive after a certain point of time. Being a fan of Vidya Balan, my expectations from the movie was not met considerably.
Conclusion
Overall rating of 6/10
There was nothing outstanding about the movie even if it had a great character of Shakuntala Devi, portrayed by a phenomenal actor, Vidya Balan- ‘Vidya Kasam’
Lootcase (Disney Hotstar Plus)
Genre: Situational Comedy
Positives
To start with, it boasts of a great but underrated cast which includes Ranvir Shorey, Vijay Raaz, Kunal Khemu and Gajraj Rao. No matter, how small the role was, each character and his/her dialogue didn’t see out of place. There is never a dull moment in the movie and it will tickle your funny bones.
Negatives
There was one not so great song which was oddly placed. The storyline is not so unique as evident from the trailer itself. Though the execution of the movie is brilliant but it is not outstanding.
Conclusion
Overall rating of 7/10
This is a Welcome movie in the barren land of quality movies in recent times. You should watch this movie if you like movies like Delhi Belly and Ghanchakkar.
