Bloodshot (Amazon Prime)

Bloodshot Review

Genre: Sci-fi, Action

Positives
The movie is based on augmentation of humans with technology. The way they are trying to depict the augmentations is commendable. Certain action sequences are well choreograpahed and will remind you of Rohit Shetty’s slo-mo action sequences. The movie is never dull and it will be a stress buster during these difficult times.

Negatives
The main drawback of the movie is that they have spoiled the main twist of the plot in the trailer itself. Coming from Vin Diesel, and with a good scientific plot, the action sequences had a scope of being a lot more innovative but it failed to meet the expectations. Though there was not much scope, the acting was nothing extra-ordinary.

Conclusion
Overall Rating of 5.5/10
There are many better action movies and better sci-fi movies available currently and unless you have nothing else to watch you can kill your time using this movie. Otherwise, don’t sweat your blood over Bloodshot.

Gunjan Saxena (Amazon Prime Video)

Gunjan Saxena review

Genre: Biopic, Drama

Positives
One thing which stands out was the acting of the co-stars only (Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Manav Vij, Vineet Kumar Singh). The story was inspiring and portrays that how a single will-powered female can excel in an area dominated by male.

Negatives
Jahnvi ne movie ki jaan le li. You can easily make out the gap between her and her co-actors, specifically between the scenes between her and Pankaj Tripathi, who portrays the role of Gunjan Saxena’s father. The screenplay was clumsy and the war and training sequences were dramatic and couldn’t move our emotions even when the Kargil War was going on.

Conclusion

Overall Rating of 4/10
Itemized Rating:
Story rating – +4
Inspiring Plot – +1
Acting of co-actors – +2
Screenplay – -1
Jahnvi Kapoor – -2

Raat Akeli Hai (Netflix)

Raat_Akeli_Hai_film_Review

Genre- Crime, Murder Mystery

Positives
It was such a relief that after so long a decent murder mystery has been executed properly. With a wonderful cast ensemble that includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhike Apte, there was not a single moment where any character seemed out of place. The acting was just appropriate to make all characters feel genuine. The story keeps you glued till the end and climax was seamlessly presented. Without excessive drama, the whole narration was crisp and believable.

Negatives
There is nothing much to point out here, just that there was nothing outstanding to get this movie into hall of fame. Possibly one can point out that being a 150 mins long movie, it can feel a bit slow to some audience. It will not entice that section of audience which expects a melodramatic Bollywood kind of movie with song and dance sequences.

Conclusion

Overall Rating of 7/10
As grassroot level crime related movies/ series gains foothold among Indian audience, Raat Akeli Hai adds another reason why this genre is here to stay. Make sure to enjoy your Raat with Raat Akeli Hai. Please let us know your views in the comments section below, in case you have watched the movie.

Upgrade (Netflix)

Upgrade Review

Genre: Sci-fi, Action

Positives
After a long time, we are seeing a movie which offers a fresh perspective to a routine formula of relation between Artificial Intelligence and Humans. The story is amazing and keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The action sequences are out of the box but they do not seem unbelievable based on the setting of the film. The icing on the cake is well sprinkled sense of humor inspite of a serious story-line. This is the best movie to counter your Corona scare since the onset of this pandemic.

Negatives
To fully appreciate the movie, a viewer needs to have a scientific bend of mind. And just that, the movie ends the entertainment too soon (1 hour 41 minutes) and leaves the viewers asking for more.

Conclusion
Overall Rating of 8.5/10
This is a must watch movie. To avoid any spoilers, we have restrained ourselves in listing the positives. Upgrade your watch list with Upgrade and do not forget to thank us in the comments 😉

  1. Will watch upgrade definitely after this review though not was initial watch list.

Bloodshot I started but got bored and will not try again.

    RIP Gunjan Saxena, the movie.
Long live the real legend, herself.

Raat akeli hai, will watch after Naseeruddin asks for forgiveness of his stupidness.

    1. Thanks for voicing your opinion. But I’m confused regarding the relation between Raat Akeli Hai and Naseeruddin. Are you confusing Nawazuddin with Naseeruddin?
